Mike Surden, EA Mike has been preparing tax returns since 1983. His expertise is with Personal and Small Business Accounting and Tax Preparation. Mike joined Independence Tax Service in 2002 and assumed the position of Director of Tax Preparation in 2007. Before joining the firm, Mike ran his own business for nineteen years. Prior to that, he had eleven years experience in manufacturing accounting for several large corporations. Mike has a BS in Accounting from Penn State University and, as an Enrolled Agent, is licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.
A. Rhodes Wilson, MBA, EA, CFP®, ChFC® Mr. Wilson has been preparing taxes professionally since 1987. Specializing in Personal Financial Planning. Rhodes is an expert at developing multi year planning scenarios to reduce the tax consequences of the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and in dealing with the tax issues of Employee Stock Options (ISOs, NQs, and RSUs). Prior to beginning his accounting career, Mr. Wilson served seven years on active duty in the Army after graduating from the United States Military Academy. He continued his military service in the South Dakota and New Jersey National Guards, from which he retired in 1994. In addition to his BS from West Point, Mr. Wilson has an MBA from the University of South Dakota, is an Enrolled Agent (EA) licensed to practice before the IRS and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner.
